A Handy Checklist for Visiting the Decor Centre

Jul 30, 2017

Congratulations on your new home/condominium – and welcome to the Marlin Spring family!  As a part of your new purchase, some of the first things on your to-do list will be to meet with our Decor centre, and to choose your finishes/decide on any upgrades you may want. No matter the amount of decor/design experience you have, this experience can be a rewarding one if you have the right information with you. To make things a bit easier, we’ve compiled a handy checklist for when visiting the decor centre:

Know your basics.

Handy Checklist for Visiting the Decor Centre

First things first, make a list of what comes standard with your unit – this will help you when deciding on add-ons and special pieces. You can cross reference your “standards list” at the decor centre, compare it to your add-ons, and discuss these items with our decor centre consultant.

Prioritize your “really wants” from “kinda wants”.

Along with your “standards list”, it’s crucial you also make a list of what you “really want” vs. what you “kinda want”. You should arrange this list from most-to-least important, and try your best to stay true to it during your visit. This is designed to help you keep your mind focussed on what matters most!

Figure out what you’re working with.

It can be difficult to remember your existing decorations and furniture pieces when you’re at the decor centre. So, our best tip is to take a count/picture of everything you wish to bring to your new home, and reference your photos several times throughout your visit. This will help make sure all of your chosen upgrades will work fabulously with your decor.

Don’t forget about value.

You can exponentially increase the value of your home just by selecting the right decorations/pieces for it – so choose wisely! Calculate a budget.

A budget can help you stay grounded, and make sure you don’t go overboard – as it’s easier to do than you think! When you have a number in mind, you’ll know exactly what is affordable, and what you might have to save for later.

Take lots of notes.

During your visit, you will learn a lot of valuable information in addition to many different things you can do to your new home. The best thing you can do is take as many notes as you can. This will help you make the right decisions for your place, and answer any questions your other family members might have. If you have any further questions/concerns after your decor centre visit, you are always able to call our decor centre to discuss any items at any time.
