Canvas Condominium Patch Project

Jul 27, 2018

We at MarlinSpring are excited to show our recent partnership with the award winning Toronto charity organization, STEPS! Partnering with them, through the PATCH Project, we worked
to create a wonderful mural at our Canvas Condominium construction site. Read further to see how this piece celebrates the creativity and drive of those within this artistic community.

The PATCH Project is known for connecting local artists with builders who are passionate about the city, creating positive dialogue and ‘creative spaces’ through artistic expression. We had the opportunity to work with one of STEPS’ great local artists, Dave Setrakian. Dave’s graffiti-style still life murals really took our breath away! In this piece he puts tools like paint cans, brushes, and pencils as the main focal pieces in order to draw the audience’s mind to all the possibilities
these tools can accomplish. His inclusion of a flower sprouting through the cracks of the concrete is also a wonderful representation of natural growth working in tandem with purposeful creative change.

Working with Dave was a real treat because he was able to grasp and reflect the nature of Canvas Condominiums in his work. The Canvas development is all about creating something
that is truly your own. The idea behind constructing a space where you use the blank slate of your home to create something completely original, based on your own personal style was what this project was all about. With a multitude of different floor plans available, you would be able to pick a unique home that really suits you and your needs – allowing you to be an original.

The new mural is also the perfect addition to the eclectic and vibrant community within Danforth Village! This temporary public installation really speaks to the community’s beautiful mosaic of shops, bustling eateries, artsy galleries, fresh markets and hip nightspots while simultaneously reflecting its promise of further growth. We hope you can stop by soon to see this great installation and really enjoy all Danforth Village has to offer.

Thank you again to STEPS and PATCH Project for working with us on this journey to build and encourage creative outlets. This has been an incredible experience that we hope inspires others around the GTA to do the same. Be sure to stay tuned for our new upcoming projects at Marlin Spring.
