This one can be as simple or extravagant as you’d like – spruce up your bathroom while creating a homemade spa! Start by filling the room with your favourite scented candles, essential oils and music. From there, you can set up your own massage station, set up a foot soak, apply face masks and anything else you can think of that will make your day relaxing! Pour yourself some tea or a glass of wine, put on a comfy bathrobe, and begin!

Bake a heart shaped pizza

There’s no need to go out for a fancy dinner when you can save money and have more fun at the same time! Pick out your partner’s favourite pizza toppings at the grocery store, and either purchase a pre-made dough or make one yourself. Shape the dough into a heart, and top with tomato sauce, cheese and anything else your heart desires. Then, pop in the oven and enjoy! You can even add this special recipe in your home’s cookbook to try again next Valentine’s Day.

Clean the home for your significant other

Surprise your loved one by rolling up your sleeves and making the home sparkling clean! Get the pile of laundry done, and make sure there are no dishes in the sink. Go beyond the everyday chores and and give the kitchen an extra cleaning. Organize those overflowing drawers that have been causing frustration. Give the overloaded garage an extra organizing. And don’t forget to add something a little special: like a new house plant or bouquet of flowers, that can double as a give for your significant other. Then you can enjoy the look on your significant other’s face when they see a fresh and sparkling home!

Have a board-game night/watch each other’s favourite movies

If you would rather have a low-key night at home, you can cuddle up on the couch and challenge your partner to a board game. After the game’s over, you can then throw on each other’s favourite movies and cuddle the night away! You also have the option to order in food, or make some snacks for the both of you to enjoy.

Paint a picture together

This could be your new Valentine’s Day tradition. Grab a blank canvas (or two!) and your favourite paint colours. You can either paint each other a picture, or collaborate and paint one together! Get creative with mixed media, colours, textures and more. Then hang on your wall for all to enjoy. You can keep adding to this collection every year and create a gallery of homemade pictures throughout a long hallway or spare room! The results are something you’ll want to treasure forever.
